This news reported Google is going to set up a Google data centre in Singapore, which costs 120 million USD.  Recently, some news reported Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said Singapore should raise R&D spending to 3.5 pct of GDP by 2015 (Singapore should raise R&D spending to 3.5 pct of GDP by 2015: PM, 2011). Google corporate may discover this opportunity and is willing to establish a data centre in Singapore.  The conduction by Google absolutely will develop the R&D in Singapore and advance the economics.  As the report mentioned, this program will boost the job market in a small way, which is positive for employment.
However, Google Company requires intelligent workers as they may use high wages to attract some technicians who work for the local network companies and ask them to join.  So this is also a threat for the local network companies because there will be high competition in the future.  On the other hand, it will impact in the business as well.  Currently, Google already created many online services for business such as connection tool with customers, research tool for new customer, analysis tool for corporate finance.  With data centre opening, there will be wider information to provide to people, which can be delivering faster and more effective.
